Giga Om: Google’s Chrome OS: Dead Before Arrival?
Wow, people are harsh on Google’s Chrome OS. I haven’t found a positive review on this product yet. Remember when people said Google Wave was ahead of it’s time? I think this time Google fell behind technology (or maybe, ironically, Google pushed Android too fast).
The decision to make Chrome OS was made in the early days of Android. Since then, Android has grown to be a juggernaut and tablet PC has become a viable alternative to netbooks. There is almost no good reason to use a web OS now. Unlike Chrome OS, Android already provides an abundance of apps. Plus, a mobile OS like Android is designed with local storage — and let’s face it, we all still use local storage for photos, etc.
